Just got done with our first weekend on a 1995 Bayliner 2050 Capri with the 5.0 in it. Waxed it back to near original before we took it up North and it ran as good as it looks. First boat with a steering wheel I have ever personally owned. We needed something cheap and reliable to leave up North that would haul all six of us. Other then the speedo tube being off and leaking water the first 2 days it went great. Wanders a bit at slow speeds, but what the heck. Wife and kids had a blast. If anyone has any advice on props or issues to watch for, let me know.

Welcome to iboats!

Low speed wander is almost universal with V-hulls. The trick is to not overcompensate. Make only small corrections with the wheel, if any. Trim tabs can help also.

As far as props are concerned, there is an excellent area here to ask questions. In general, you want to be able to reach but not exceed the maximum recommended RPM for your engine (probably 4400- 4800 for your engine) at WOT (wide open throttle). It's a good idea to keep a spare on board, along with a spare nut and the tools to change the prop.

Thanks a lot sea weasel. I know what I have been missing all these years. Anchoring in the middle of the lake while the whole family swims, tubing, ajnd just cruising. I can't wait for Friday.
