I have a 1984 V6 Block. Are the 2 halves of this block a matched pair or can I replace the smaller end (toward the reeds) without replacing the other half.

They are matched. If you look closely on the flange you'll see a number, with the same number on the other half....

They are matched but it can be changed. But you need to be experienced enough with tha motors ta know what to look for and how to remedy any problems when you do it. Most of tha time you can get away with it on a "fishin'" motor by removing tha dowel pins. But on a real "stem winder" motor you better have your stuff together............JMO
