A SP gear ratio for a 4cly is 2.15

Will a 2.30 DP work on a VP 4cly?

I didnt think it would.

It was the lower GR in the DP that made me wonder, maybe it could, got to ask.

Many years ago, in 1990 i think, I saw this setup on a boatshow. I had to take a picture of it, cause I had never seen it before. Maybe it was a dealer that put it on for show only, I don't recall ever seen a Volvo brochure with this mix.

That motor is the pic is at least a 150hp. Notice the 2 carbs. It had enough power to spin the duo.

The 131's and 145's all had dual carbs and they were'nt 150 hp, 120 and 138 respectively.

Horse power isn't the problem, torque is the problem, those engines just didn't have the low end torque for the DP.
There is also no gear ratio for them.
1.78:1 is for the Big block gas engines, 1.95:1 for the Small block V8's and 2.30:1 for the V6 engines with 190hp.

I would agree that the dealer probably did that for the show, I also have never seen a DP ever listed on any 4 cylinder engine other than diesel. Looks neat though.
