I'm having an issue that has to be something really simple that I'm just not figuring out. I just bought the 89' Bayliner 1750 Capri a month ago and it fired up just fine. Well, I go to get it ready for the lake for memorial day weekend and I get no spark. The engine cranks just fine, but wont fire. I replaced the points and condensor, but it was my first time, so I could've done something wrong? Gapped the points to .019. I'm not getting spark out of the coil and I have 9.5 volts to the coil while cranking. Could it be the coil? I've also heard a long condensor wire can short if touching dist. Possibly a ground off? The points have a connector that connects them with the condensor if thats touching distributor can cause problems? I'm a newby to electrical systems on boats, so any insight would be greatly appreciated.
