Hey I have a 2.5 HP Johnson that will not start. Its an 1987 Model #CJ3RCUA

The dealer said it was running and that i believe. To me it seems like gas is not getting to the motor. Yes i have the fuel turned on. Any ideas before i take it back. Gas is fresh and oil is 50:1

Thanks. I do not want to take much apart. I did check spark. Added a small amount of fuel into plug holes and it will fire than stall. I am thinking maybe the float is stuck or something in carb like you said. Have no compression gauge .

If you just got it from the dealer, take it back to him.

Re: 2.5 HP won't start

Sorry took so long. I was on vacation. I got motor back. O ring was broken apart in the fuel shut off choke mechanism. Was blocking the fuel. I had it running today.
A few new questions. How many times do i need to pump the primer? It took awhile to get it going. I believe they ran it dry at the shop. Also the lean or rich turn knob. Does it just control the low idle part? I have never had a motor with this before.
