SO I saw many threads on how the MARINE starter is the only starter you can put in on the motor.
I go to autozone and napa and find out the motor is a 2.5 but the starter is a heavy duty found on most V8 engines.
I found the exact replacement for my starter online also for 149$
My question is where is this safty stuff on the Marine starters? Is it in the starter itself? or is it in the silenoid?
They had the exact match to my silenoid at autozone for 14.99$ Will I be able to use this on my starter? It is exact everything , dimensions, posts, etc. Or is the safty hoopla in the silenoid ?
All answers are appreciated.!!!! I really need a hand. One project moved to two and four now I got it all back together and this happens. No click from the starter when trying to test lead me to believe the silenoid is bad. Is this a correct assumption? The slave silenoid was clicking when trying to start the boat.
ALSO to all those ppl who try to do job after some other guy or guys took the thing appart. Word to the wise. RUN RUN RUN!!!! as fast as you can. Or you will be like me playing the guessing game where this went, where this goes, and what the hell is that!!. Its not like everyone has a 1982 Galaxy in the driveway and are willing to let you look at theirs to figure out yours. You will be in a world of trouble as for me 3 weeks and finally I am ready to start the engine but I already know on that day when I actually do start it other problems are sure to exist and the headache will never end.
