First of all I need to apologize to all you experts. Electric work is not my forte.

So, one of my batteries died and I had to replace it. No big deal. But then I decided to put the new battery in the back (difficult to reach place) so I had to disconnect the other battery in order to move it.

What is my problem? I can't remember how to reconnect them!! Following the attached diagram it looks like I have it connected right. However, one of the batteries is getting a bit hot to the touch when I connect the on-board battery charger. This may be normal but I'm not sure.

Here are my questions:
Is it normal for a battery to get hot (not too hot) when being charged with on-board charger?
How does the motor charge the batteries when running? Is it through the thick wires coming from the engine?
How does the motor charge both batteries? Or does it? ( I have a 2006 150HP Honda engine)

Here is the diagram that matches my setup:

Re: 2 Batteries one engine question

That's the way I'm connected
But my battery switch has "BOTH" setting
That way both batteries are being used to run and both are being charged

Yes...

Again, yes...

The engine has an alternator and regulator and the charge goes into the batteries, just like your car, depending on which position is selected on the switch...... NEVER turn the switch through the OFF position with the engine running... or goodbye regulator...
