2 blade prop to 3 blade on 5.5 johnson 63

I often wondered if you could get a little more<br />movement out of this engine if it had a 3 blade<br />prop. The reason I'm asking is because other manufacturers use3 blade props on their engines.<br />Did you ever try this proceedure?<br />Please let me know.<br />Charlie boomboom

Back then, 2-blade props were considered Speed Props and 3-blades were Power Props. That was especially true with the Merc 6, 7.5, 9.8Hp cousins. But props have evolved a lot since then. It's just as much a matter of pitch as the number of blades. But yeah, it kinda seems odd to put a "speed" prop on a motor that'll probably never plane a boat.
