2 boats I looked at tonight

Tonight I went to look at 2 nice boats: a 1999 Aquasport 20' CC with a 135 HP Merc and a new '07 Key West 17' CC with a 70hp Yamaha.

The '99 was in awesome shape... really nice. It's a big boat (to me) and supposedly goes 45mph which I find to be good and quick.

The '99 is 14 grand and the '07 is 16.5 grand. If I was to get one of these 2 boats (I would have the used boat surveyed before I buy) which would you all recommend?

I'm leaning toward the '07. It's more than I want to spend but it has a warranty. Plus, I want to take my 2 kids with me (5 and 8 years old) and I want to be able to handle the boat by myself - getting it on and off the trailer. I think the smaller boat would be better for this (?) .

newer is always better when it comes to boats and warranties are great - just take some boating classes so you don't void the warranty doing something you shouldn't. Also you are right about getting one that you can easily handle - when the wind starts blowing and the tide ripping it can be very difficult to trailer a bigger boat and very easy to ding it up.

I would say both could use more power. And getting the motor on the new boat upgraded will likely be easier than on the used boat. But BOTH are really, really nice boats. Good job.
