I have to choose between 2 great boats by this weekend, one is a 2005 1448 mod v alumacraft, with a 2005 merc 25hp 2stroke tiller and a 2005 trailer the whole rig has less than 6hrs on it and the carbs are gummed up and the owner is going to pay to have rebuilt and show me reciept so it was done other wise it is in exellent shape,or a 2008 1442 alumacraft w/livewell,a 2008 25hp 2stroke yamaha tiller, and a 2009 trailer and this rig has a total of 10hrs on it and is so clean u can eat off of it and i think most of it is still under warranty.now i know the 1448 is a little bigger it's 48 inces at the bottom and 70 at the top and the gauge aluminum is slightly thicker .070 gauge and the 1442 is 42 inches at the bottom and 62 at the top and .063 guage aluminum.i also loose the livewell which is important to me but am willing to sacrafice if the 1448 is a better deal.i wanna really know what u would do because when i do this i'm done for a while and i want to make the right choice so i will take any advice please.both rigs are $2700.00 so any help would be great thanks.

That is a tough call with them being the same price.

Having started out in a jon boat I would personally go for the wider one, 6'' makes alot of diffence in stability, you can just make a livewell a project.

Maybe sit down and list the positives and negatives of each boat and maybe that will make it clear which one to go with.

Buy 'em both, put the Yamaha on the bigger boat, and resell the other :)

Seriously, tough choice. They both sound nice. Try the pros and cons that 5150 suggested, or just flip a coin. Think you'll be very happy with either.

Not to discourage youy but did you measure the bottom of boat? I had a 1457 Alumacraft and unless they changed the way they were building them the last 2 numbers are beam. Mine measured 40 inched across bottom ribs to insides of side ribs. Personally though I would go with the yamaha.

1448 is 48 inches on the bottom and 70 on top and 1442 is 42 on the bottom and 62 on top not a huge difference but i just can't get passed it's 2008 that is a deal of a lifetime and i will resell the motor and buy a new one because u never know what anyone did to it and i take care of my boats like my kids.

Depending on where you fish, but I'd go with the 1448 mod-v. It's wider, heavier gauge aluminum, and will handle a chop better. A built in livewell is nice, but you can always make it a project if you really need it.

Understood about the warranty. But if the boat is an aluminum riveted jon boat, it's pretty much fool proof. If there are no major leaks or major damage, the boat will outlast you if you take care of it. I own a '76 lund s-14 that I bought a year ago. It's one tough boat and am confident that it will outlast me unless I do something stupid.

If you're concerned about the motor, that's another story. I'm assuming the warranty is limited, and if the motors have been run properly with proper maintenance, I'm guessing it will outlast the warranty...and if they haven't likely the warranty won't cover it.

My first concern is which will better suit my needs. For me, since I do most of my fishing in inland lakes where the chop can be unpredictable, I'd prefer something with a v in the hull.
