at the end of last season, the oil flow buzzer sounded indicating a problem with flow.

last week, i finally got a chance to open up the sensor and found that the oil had turned into a non flowing gel.

does anyone have any ideas as to what would cause this? what can be done to prevent this from reoccurring?

Clean tank, sensor, and lines to pump. Install fresh oil, TWC-3 different brand, bleed pump and lines. 50-1 mix in tank to insure pump is working.

Usually what causes oil to gel like that is mixing different brands. Different oils have different chemical packages.Find you an oil rated TCIII and stick with one brand.

TC-W3 oils are not supposed to gel like the older TC-W2 oils did. Water in the oil tank will emulisify and make a slimy gel-like compound. Flush everything out, change the filter, and bleed the system at the pump inlet fitting before running the motor.

Big D and Seahorse got it right. I gave up on the oil debate a long time ago, put in the engine what ever you like.
