I posted earlier regarding continual carb clogging problems, I believe due to the motor ('98 4 stroke 25 hp) sitting too long w/o running and also in the sun. As you may know, any tiny bit of crud in these carbs and they're clogged. So...is it OK to put a filter both before the fuel pump and one after? My reasoning is that even if i drain the carb, there's still going to be fuel in the pump to get nasty, so filtering at two distant points along the fuel line might help considering how delicate the system is toward crud in the gas.

And if I do this or not, is there a recommendation for the best possible gas filter, or is any lawnmower type or wally world type OK? THANKS!

Go to Walmart and buy their fuel/water separator($27), easy to install on transom with 2 screws, use the Stabil Marine(Walmart $20/quart) all the time, this will eliminate most of your fuel problems. Keep the motor mounted filter where it is because it's not going to hurt anything to have it as a back-up filter. But I'll tell you, after you install the fuel/water separator, you'll never get much of anything in the motor mounted filter again.
