2 hp 1972 Johnson, No spark????

After UPS damaged the hell out of my gas tank on my motor during shipment. I was trying to get it started today. After cleaning carb and tank gunk. I also changed impeller. Looks like I have no spark. I have a spark tester and I am not seeing it light up. I'm good at minor repair stuff but I guess I need to dig in deeper. How do I get the fly wheel off to check points and such. Could it be the coil? Suggestions. Thanks Mark

It's likely that it needs a set of points and condensor. if the points don't have and pits in them and they appear to be in good shape, then you can clean them up and re-use them. If the insulation on the coil is cracked, then you'll need to replace it.

Here's a link to ignition procedure from a 3hp. Same thing as yours, except just one coil, point set..etc. All parts are the same, Spark plug may be different. It also shows how to remove flywheel, etc. Good luck!
