My Tracker 17' boat has a Classic 50 (45) and a Tracker (by Merc) 9.9 Hp both 2 strokes.. I want to order some spare parts (impellers etc), but I keep getting conflicting info on the years and what to order.

The Tracker 9.9 was made in 1999 and the SN# is OG 917449. When I look under Mercury Parts they don't list a 1999 year for the 9.9Hp 2 Stroke. They do only have 1 impeller listed for the other 9.9 2 Strokes, so I figure I'm okay with that, but when I need other parts I'm afraid I'll run into problems.

The Classic 50 is a 4 Cylinder 2 Stroke SN# OC 104590 that came new with the 1989 boat. That SN doesn't match up with anything I find on the IBoats part list for impellers for 45 or 50 HP 4 cylinder engines.

I'd like to make sure I'm ordering the right stuff, since I don't need any of it right away and I don't want to think I have spares laying around and then when I need them, find out I can't use them.

Anyone know why I can't match up the engines to the parts lists? I even looked on some other Merc parts sites and run into the same issues.

thanks, Bill

Re: 2 Merc OB parts questions

It's not the best list in the world they assume that everyone is a partperson.
9.9=18-3062
50=18-3007

You might go to Merc's part site,look up the parts by serial number,then convert Merc's number to Sierra or who ever you order from.

Go to www.mercurypartsexpress.com

You can find part numbers, and also see (and print) an exploded view of the various sub-assys that make up your motor. Enter the serial number, your zipcode, pick "Gearhousing (Driveshaft)". You can check off the parts that you want and order them online, or just use this resource to get the part number.
