Re: 2 or 4 stroke

Depends on where your'e gonna fish/boat, I live in No. CA. and am restricted to some waterways/lakes as I also have 2 stroke 40 Merc w/ remote steering. An awesome motor tho, in my 17' tinny w/ 2 guys I get 26 knots max, w/ semi vhull, go 10 miles at full throttle and use 2- 2.5 gals of fuel and I use Amsoil synthetic oil. :) mine is a 1974 model, rebuilt w/ electric start. In 2 .5 yrs Ive had it , I've replaced impeller and thats it. I asked dealer and they dont sell 2 strokes here anymore,4 strokes much more $. I guess if I ever upgrade, it'l be 4 stroke just to get to more places.
