2 part question!

Question one:

3.0L mercruiser I/O hooked to an alpha one drive. When driving the boat, it comes completely to operating temp and runs fine all the way around. I have to put out of the inlet (about 5-10 minutes) before I can open it up. When I go to throttle it up for the first time, it always falls flat on its face. It will do this another time or 2 until if finally just takes off. I never have another problem again with the way it runs. My buddy messed with the choke in the beginning when I was getting it ready for the season. I think it is staying on too long, until it finally kicks off then the boat goes. Are these electric chokes like cars where you have to stab the throttle to get them to turn off, or what is the proper way to adjust it.

Question two:

I just did a prop change and I dont have enough clearance, and the prop hits the anode. I tried a higher clearance one, but it still hits ever so slightly. I will end up trying some others, but can I run it without one for the time being? I run in mostly fresh water, and the boat does not stay in the water (trailered). I just dont want to cause any damage. If I grind it down a bit, how much clearance do I need (I assume that an aluminum prop will flex a bit).

Thanks!!!

Ayuh,.... 1/4" will do.... 3/8" might be Better....

Running Without it,... You'll be at the Mercy of the Prop, without P/Steering....

Re: 2 part question!

Ran without it today, and didnt notice any difference. I guess I can just pick up one without the fin.

Tweaked the choke too, and the bog was greatly reduced.
