I own a 4.0L 6cyl petrol 1985 landcruiser (toyota call the 4.0L a 3F, earlier 4.2L were 2F). I believe in the 70's & 80's toyota & chev were in bed together and the 4.0L is from the chev stables, right?

On the weekend the crankshaft snapped in half at 65 Mls an hour, bang!Pop! clunk, clunk, clunk. Up until that point I had good oil pressure and it was running smooth but I do drive it hard (pics will follow when I've pulled it down). This is the second time in 10 years. Whats going on with these chevs, was there a casting fault that anyone knows about or am I cursed?

Aldo

Ayah,
You're Cursed Aldo........ :(

I believe that's based on the old Chevy 235cid, "StoveBolt 6".........
Even with a good Full Engine Balance Job,
They weren't real Winders......

Toyota is probably still using Cast Iron Cranks..??
