Two questions I have. Just got my first quote and don?t have my manual so there is a couple things I need to know.

I went to a sandbar last weekend and some old hag told me a couldn?t be next to here because I didn?t have 2 anchors and my boat would knock against here rusty a.. Pontoon boat. Needless to say I left. So im going to get another anchor today to please here..lol and probably would be a good Idea to keep the as. and front of the boat streight. Should I get a sand anchor for the front or a regular river anchor?

Second Question.
Can I run my blower out of the water on my boat? Not sure if I can or not it?s an 89 Larson I/O v6 dc 190. I?m unsure so usally I open the engine cover to get the fumes out from driving then put the boat in the water and run blower for about a min before a start the boat do to busy boat launch. Let me know it would greatly help plus I don?t want to blow up my first boat.

Yes you can run your blower whenever you like, and I would also want you to throw a stern anchor to keep your boat from hitting mine. As far as what type I will let others chime in.

I do a lot of my "boating" (read partying) on the local sandbar. Proper sandbar etiquette around here, dictates that you have and use both a bow and a stern anchor. There are way too many boats packed into a relatively small space to allow anyone to swing normally. I happen to use an 8 lb. Danforth for the bow anchor and a 4 lb. Danforth for the stern. Early on, I used a 10 lb. mushroom for the stern anchor but quickly found that it wouldn't hold. Boat is a Trophy 1802 walkaround BTW.

And yes, you can run your blower while the boat is out of the water.

I have a 20ft larson which weights about 2500 pounds I currently use a 25 pound anchor. I feel like if I where to get just a 4 il one it would do nothing. The ones I have know is a regular anchor my buddy gave me. What i was wondering is do I just get another anchor or should I have one the screws into the sand?

a 25 lb. anchor is overkill for a boat that size (in most conditions) assuming that you are using the correct scope for water depth and bottom conditions and an appropriate rode (with chain). I only used a 15 lb. Danforth as the bow anchor on my 28' wooden Chris-Craft cabin cruiser and it weighed three times what your Larson does. The general rule of thumb we use on "our" sandbar is that your stern anchor should be approximately half the weight of your bow anchor. It works fairly well for most of us if you use an anchor that will "set" (not a mushroom or a cinder block).

OK here is a not so smart question about sand bar ing lol? I can't even believe im going to ask this but here we go anyway. When at the sand bar and putting out 2 anchor's do they both go on the same side of the boat? Anchor one off the port side of the bow. Anchor two off port side of the stern? I have anchored many times and seem to have done it different ways to try different things but just want to know what you all say thanks in advance

I'm not sure that it matters. I've tried it several ways myself and there seems to be little difference in how the boat rides or wether or not it drags. Is it safe to assume that since you're from NH and you're asking about sandbars that you spend some time at West Alton or the Mosquito Bridge?

Wind and current dictate placement of the anchors ;)

Be careful not to hijack other's threads tfwlm. This one is closely related but still considered a breach of forum etiquette. It gets hard to tell who is answering whom about what . . .
