i have a late 70s 10hp evinrude. At full throttle it runs great. when i try to troll at low speed or at idle, it will skip inconsistently or just skip and die. It starts again with one pull. the problem is only at low rpm. I changed the plugs, cleaned the carb, what now?

I also have a 76 35hp johnson. i need a foot for it. anyone have such a thing?? thanks very much.

Hard with out hearing or seeing, but check the compression to see if thats good. Check rpm's at idle maybe idleing to low. (thats a shot in the dark)
Good Luck.

Go Dawgs!

It sounds like the carb is still not properly clean. If you have a conventional type of choke try closing or parly closing that if it then runs at slow speeds then it more or less confirms that the carb slow running circuit is still dirty.

See the "Engine Frequently asked questions " board (http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31) for advice on cleaning carbs and adjusting carb needles

But the idle speed is a valid point!
