2 stroke Breaking in question?? Suzuki

I have rebuilt the center cylinder (new rings, wristpin and bearing)on a 1989 suzy dt 55, oil injected 2-stroke engine. I also overhauled the carbs. My (Clymer) manual says to run 50-1 oil in my fuel durring the break-in period (after a rebuild) even though the engine is fuel injected (oops, meant to type "oil injected"). Is this correct? and will I have a hard time adjusting the carbs with double the oil? It says to use this mixture for the first 6 hours.

Do what the manual says. The carbs shouldn't notice but the plugs might.<br /><br />Clean and gap, or replace, the plugs after the 6 hours.

Your engine is not "fuel injected" its "Oil injected" -- they are not the same. If the oil injection system is working it mixes fuel and oil at about a 50:1 ratio. If you pre-mix the fuel in the gas tank at 50:1 you essentially double the amount of oil the engine gets during the breakin period which is the way it should be.

I think you won't like the performance with doubled oil. When I broke in mine I
used the first tank with oil and forgot to mix the second one and went on forgetting on purpose the next three. I had smoother work which I thing is better fo breaking in than the way the motor operates on double oil.
