Considering buying a 1 KW output generator for camping and am wondering if anyone has had any experiences( good or bad) with these lightweight 2 cycle Robin powered units??

Re: 2 stroke generators?

I heard of 2 stroke generators several months ago, but I haven't heard anything good or bad about them yet. The one I read about is made in China. Would this be the same generator?
...Bob in Calif...

I would test run one before I bought it. An air cooled 2 stroke can be very load--chainsaw - dirtbike with no exhaust. Have no experiance with the gens you speak of, but I've had 3 generators, and have never wanted to hear one for more than an hour.

Let us know how they sound.

nothing wrong with a Robin 2 stroke. should work well as a generator motor.

Dmessy, if you get one, let me know how you like
it. been thinking of getting one for emergency
home use. no electrical appliances are allowed
at my campsite though. getting away from all that
is part of the joy (4 me at least)
good luck,
M.Y.

Will do Mellow, should be in mid-Jan 03. Didn't get that paticular one from ebay but one that looks similar. Yeah, getting away from it all is good but I go fishing /tent camping when it is cold and am looking for electric heat instead of catalytic propane. Those things cause me bad headaches even with good ventilation. My zero degree sleeping bag works well but getting out of it in the morning is tough! ;)
