Hi,
To give context/back story to the issue I'm having, I've got a 1992 Evinrude 70hp 2-stroke VRO outboard. On my second trip after buying the boat, the outboard had a huge bog down issue out on the water, which led to us being rescued by the coast guard.
Turns out the primer solenoid was cracked and fuel was leaking heavily. I fixed the issue with a rebuild kit and problem was solved for 1 fishing trip, the next trip however, same bogging issue, but the solenoid was good. So I decided to clean the carbs, new gaskets in, ran the outboard in a big bin of water in the garden, tuned the carbs to @DangarMarine's advice and it ran great. Then came 2 weeks of shocking weather so the boat didn't get used.
Today I was doing an impeller replacement and once finished, I wanted to idle the engine to see the tell-tale water flow but she wouldn't start, tried a good dozen times to start and got a few fires but no running and on the last try, I'm guessing - a backfire, a single loud gunshot with a spit of liquid from the exhaust.
After this I then noticed a large pool of straight 2 stroke building up in the engine housing, I took off the carb air intake cover and confirmed that the oil is spilling from all 3 carbs.
I'm assuming it's an issue with vro pump and I've been wanting to switch to premix anyway so might just do that. Can't find alot of info about oil coming from the carbs, especially all 3 at once, also I'm sure it's not 2 stroke fuel which the petrol has evaporated, it's thick oil right out of the carb intake.
I appreciate any advice, apologies for the short essay of writing
