Is it worth the cost?
Does it improve engine performance?
Is a synthetic blend just as good?

Just opinions, mind you:

Worth the cost? Probably not.

Improve performance? Not enough to notice.

Blends just as good? Yes, but I also think any NMMA rated TC-W3 outboard oil is just as good for most applications by most boaters.

Good luck. :)

Re: 2 Stroke Synthetic Oil

Good question. We tried the full synthetic (Merc Race and Pennzoil) in the drag motors and saw no gain over the blend (OMC and Pennzoil) in the 8000 to 8300 range. The synthetic blend shows better wear protection in all motors tested (recreational and hi-performance). These were all carb'd motors.

Good luck!

I run a 1999 johnson 60 degree looper. I run Ficht Oil with the oil injection system. When I troll I get smoke. No more or less than the next guy. If I switch to a full synthetic (not any Amsoil product) maybe Pensoil, will it smoke less and will I be sacraficing any protection
