I have my 54 on the bow allready my buddy has a greatwhite 55. We shall put his on the stern.I will try a solo run with both motors on one batt.I allready tried it with both motors on stern.I'm thinking of dual motors on the bow, hows that sound? a motor for each of us,also a good piece of mind incase of breakdown.allways carry an extra prop.I'm running these with 3blade props..Ever ran a big24v motor 80lb on 10' jonboat? My boat is just over 60lbs

Ever ran a big24v motor on 10' jonboat?

I use a 70# 24V TM on my 14' jon boat and it's way overkill, too much power. Thing I've found about trolling motors, that differs from outboards, more power does not nessasarily increase speed. You'll hit a point of no return as the motor can't turn any faster, also the prop is pitched for high thrust, not speed.

I'm also running a MotorGuide 3 blade prop on my MinnKota TM. Seems to be a good combo as the weeds get hacked off easliy, sharp prop.

Why both connected to one battery and swapping in the spare? Run one battery on each trolling motor. If speed is the objective, you probably won't notice any major improvement. I do know that allot of walleye hunters will use bow and stearn motors, but it is mainly for precise control, not speed.

Its been a while since I did a 2/3 blade comparison on my MG. There wasn't any major change. Something like 0.1mph if I recall correctly.

If overloaded, 2 motors w two batteries are faster on small jonboats. If not, one strong motor/bat. is faster.

Hey you know they have those three blades in aluminum, then you can even sharpen them more:eek:I added a 38lb thrust to the stern along with my 54 on the bow ,RASS, I felt a big difference even with the top speed, the motors will start to wind out as each motor helps themselves out. These motors are made to push alot of weight, when you put them on something light they really get going.I put my buddies 55 on the stern along with my 54 before I reversed the head.Boat was back heavy,I'd like to try again since I have mine at the bow now.
