I've got 2 lower units and I'm trying to determine their model type and exact year manufactured. I roughly know the year of each, but I can't seem to find any info with the part numbers. Any Ideas?
These are the only numbers I found on the units which both came off 115hp inline 6 motors...
(1623-6051) This lower unit is I think from '84 and has a pre-load pin at the top. There is also a plastic sleeve that seems to slide up and down over the shift-shaft...what is this? (see photo)
(1655-7332) This came from a 1987...no pre-load pin and prop will ratchet if you turn it backwards while in gear. This unit has a seales drive shaft bearing, while the unit above had its bearing sealed by the water pump base.(I'll attach pics of this unit in another post)
Both motors call for the same water pump housing, but I have the units dis-assembled in my basement and the water pump bases are definately different. How do I order the right pump housing for each?
