2 water pee holes?

I have to ask a question to anyone who owns a 1989 Evinrude 70hp outboard.

The weather finally was nice today to work on my boat it got up to 55 degrees,so today I wanted to get my motor ready and start it up so I checked all my fluids and made sure my lower unit was all set with gear oil..Well I put the water muffs on and turn the garden hose on and my motor started on the first turn of the key which was awesome,

Now here is where my question will start.

I notice right off the back is I only had water coming out of one place besides all the water coming from the muffs and that was a pee hole that is directly above the part that is flat just above the skeg( not sure what that part is called above the skeg,it would be the part you would attach a dolphin fin to) so I shut the motor off and so I said that is weird I did not know there is a pee hole there also as there should be a pee hole just in back of the motor prop side or just to the right side on the bottom of the cowling as your outside your boat looking at the motor facing your boat..

But I did also notice before I shut the motor off I had quite a bit of water coming from the bottom of the cowling.so I took of the hood and notice that the pee hose came off so I put it back on using a very small clamp to make sure it would never come off again...

So I started the motor back up and now I had a awesome stream of water coming from the pee hole that is just on the bottom part of the cowling and also from the other spot I mentioned above..

Now I had to look at some videos of this other spot where there appears to be another pee hole and to my surprise there was..so technically I have 2 places on my outboard where water pees out..

Now if you watch this video not mine of a 70hp Evinrude which looks just like mine and go to around the 1.10 minute mark you can see clearly there is a pee hole **** out water towards the transom..

So my question is what does the other pee hole by the skeg for?

Here is the video please tell me I am correct on seeing a steady stream of water coming out of another pee hole besides the one that is up by the bottom of the cowling..

The video is not the best one I could find but I am sure you be able to see what I am taking about..Just open up to the bigger view.

I also like to mention that I heard that this other pee hole might have been used maybe for a water pressure gauge but since there is no gauge hooked to this pee hole and the previous owner ran the motor for a couple years this way it is nothing I really need to worry about correct?

I can't see what you mean by the skeg, but the stream shooting toward the transom is a drain hole. There are other drain holes also. Absolutely normal and they will be underwater when you have it on the lake. Not to confused with "pee" holes.

Ok sorry for the confusion.I am sure your right I was not sure what it is called I just know there was water shooting out towards the transom .so I was presuming it was another pee hole.

The midsection housing fills up with water when the motor runs. If it were not drained out, it would uber corrode, and/or freeze and bust in cold weather.

Ok I hear what your saying speaking of draining would there happened to be 2 spots on the motor for water to drain out,I look again but I also thought I seen a spot on the side of my motor where water was draining out when I shut my motor off..If memory serves me correct it was somewhere up by the top gear oil level screw,I will have to double check..You been very helping me solve these questions..

As I said, there are several drain holes. I don't even try to remember where they all are on every motor model. Just take them for granted and don't give them a second thought.

Thank You ,I managed to find out how many drain holes there is and there is actually 3 and know where there all located now on my outboard..
