Alright, I have a 1975 model 200 20 hp merc. I was changing the gear oil in the lower unit and noticed oil. I also intend to change the water pump. So I tried to remove the lower unit from the exhaust housing but I can't get it to move. I have removed the lock nuts from the bottom of the anti cavitation plate and I have loosened the one on top. The unit only dropped about a 16th of an inch. Now, obviously I'm new to this so any suggestions anyone has as to what the problem is would be greatly appreciated. What am I missing? Please help! Thanks in advance. Do I need to unhook the shifting rod?
