20 hp. Work over

I just picked up a 20 hp mercury SN. 5409201 can anyone tell me what year an model
it came with remote steering an electric start I’m wanting to leave electric start an change to tiller controller
is this practical

It's believe it's a 1979 Not sure on adding a tiller handle. Might be easier/cheaper to sell the one you got and look for something with a tiller.
