20 inch transom

Quick question. I am looking at motors for my boat and I have a 20 inch transom. Is there a way to mount a 25 inch shaft motor on my boat...some kind of plate or something? Might be a dumb question but I may have found a good deal just that its 25 instead of 20.

i have heard that some evinrudes can be made shorter by just removing the mid-leg extension.

You can use it with a Jackplate, after a fashion. it would be better to get a 20" shaft. What kind of boat + motor?

I saw online just today, some outboard transom mounting plates that would work to get that 25" up some on your transom. Just depends on the HP. Bigger motor,...I'd go with the Jack Plate.
