20' Lund Fisherman with 150XR6 engine.. nice boat, but blows out on plane with very little trim and cannot turn without blowing out.. The XR6 is the Salt Water Long Shaft Version engine. Funny thing, it runs 38-40 mph, accelerates great, no complaints, but when you look at a prop chart on Mercuray, it lists a 13.75 or 14x21 prop. This boat/engine came with a 14x24 prop, aluminum. Prop choices are confusing. At rest, the prop is under the water by 12", on plane the prop is nearly out of the water. Anyone have a 20' Lund with this issue..?

Where is the anti-ventilation plate in relationship to the keel? How deep the prop is in the water at rest is irrelevant. It's where the prop sits with relationship to the keel that matters.

The ant-cavitation plate (the plate above the prop?) is roughly 1/4" above the keel at the back of the boat... any ideas?

I really think it is a boat design, motor placement issue.. the performance of the boat is good as long as I can keep the prop in the water.. same issue as the guy with 04 Lund Fisherman

When the prop is hooked up what is the max rpm and speed.
Check out the Turning Point Hustler props close to SS performance at AL prices.Improve overall performance. They will combat venting and should allow you to maintain the present height. If your present max rpm is good get the same pitch.

Can you drop the motor a hole, sounds like it is mounted to high.

I have played with engine height and mine did the same thing when it was too high, it would run great but the slightest bit too much trim or any turn and it would blow out, dropped it a hole and it works really well everywhere now.
