Ooh--Ooh--Ooh! Offer an extra 100 for the engine. That way you get another lower unit, a prop, spare electronics, AND you might want to repair the 90 as a winter project.
Even if it is still on the boat, it can be removed with hand tools in about an hour, and two men CAN with a little struggle handle it. Better if you have a pick-up but it can be fit into the trunk of a good sized car.
If you should hit something and knock off a skeg, the lower unit will cost 100 to repair, and electronics are about that, so you really can't lose.
DANG! Blown engines just bring out the worst in me. They CALL to me like women--even when they are as far away as California and I get excited. That's why I have about 15 in the garage (Most work now).
