200 Black Max Alarm Problem

I just finished restoring a boat. One of the last things I did was to put on a new wiring harness. Before I replaced it the alarm would beep once when the key was turned on to the on position. Now when I turn the key to the on position the alarm sounds a contant beep and will not stop unless I push in the key as if to choke. As I restored the boat I went through the engine including a new water pump and a new heat sensor. The engine runs good and has good water pressure. I'm in the process of adding a temperature gauge for peace of mind but This alarm is really bugging me because I know this is not right. Does anyone have any advise? Thanks

Re: 200 Black Max Alarm Problem

Thanks for the replies. I don't know how anything could be wired wrong, all there was to it was to plug in the 8 prong plug at the engine and mount the key switch. I am planning on using the wires for the temp. gauge (tan with blue stirpe)and the tach (grey) when I get them. The serial number of the engine is 6454382, thanks again for the help.

Constant BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! is for overheating, so you need to look at the tan-tan/blue wires see if they are connected right. Normally the Temp Gauge sensor is on the port head and the overheat sensor is on the starboard head. The temp gauge sensor is grounded, but the overheat is not, it grounds itself when it goes off, with the button making contact with the block, that completes the circuit to set off the alarm.
