2 different manuals. 2 different adjustments, i know these carb adjustments are starting points, meaning set them at the suggested turns out and then adjust from there, the port and starboard side are also different,, my promlem is a lean sneeze,,, it will idle in gear for longer then the neutral position,,, then it coughs and stalls. my adjustment call for starboard to be turned out 7/8 , port 1 5/8 out,,, the jother manual says both sides the same,,, any suggestions,, i was going to try a pressure test on the fuel pump side, and a vacum test on the tank side, do you think i could buy new pilots, my dealer is very tough , they do not want to deal with ordering small stuff, even when they are not busy, meaning off season, this motor comes up an odd year when trying to order parts, the plugs come up calling for BR8HS-10 i can no9t find the -10 plug just the BR8HS not sure if there is a better plug to run to give better idleing, motor runs great until i get to the dock and have to tie up, it restarts and runs good i have to tap on the choke to keep it running, so that makes me sure of a running out of fule symptom. new fuel pumps from yamaha,, i almost think they may need checked,,, just frustated, and could use some input,,, i am trying to buy complete rebuild kits,, with new pilots,,,

Re: 200 etlh 1987 idle issue

they are not starting points and if everything else is correct that is where they stay.
they DO NOT adjust the air fuel ratio.
the difference between the HS and the -10 plugs is the -10 is a pre gapped plug.
remove,carefully clean and reinstall.
normally you will only need bowl gaskets.
