Last outing motor bucking when going from 3,000 RPM to full throttle. It cleared up and had no problem rest of weekend. Put boat back in water and motor bucking when I go to full throttle and wont get better. Changed fuel filters, cleaned plugs, changed gas lines, changed gas tank to mix to see if bad fuel or water and still consistantly the same. I can get to plane at 3,000 RPM but when I full throttle the motor bucks bad. When I back it of to 3,000 again it runs smooth as silk. Idles great as well. Any suggestions on further checks. Thanks

Sorry about that,I had the same problem with a 1995 150 Ocean Runner, turned out to be the Power Pack

seaswirlbill, Thanks for the reply but I don't know what or where the power pack is. Excuse me for my dumbness but could you explain what it is. Sounds like a good chance that is what it could be since I eliminated fuel as the culprit.

Thanks again

Re: 200 HP 1995 Ocean Pro

On my engine, it is located on the back side of the engine under the coils, mine is optical ignition and the power pack works in conjunction with the optical sensor tied to the timing of the engine. It is indeed the heart of the ignition system and I think the price tag on mine was about $175 for the part and then the labor to to it. As always there are troubleshooting techniques to narrow down the problem, checking spark on all cylinders, the problem I had like yours was it acted up above 3500 rpms and was intermittant, but toward the end became more prominent. Look for arcing at the coils at night, may be helpfull....

Bill

Check out www.theoutboardwizard.com Ralph will set you straight and give you a discount of 10 percent on the part. Sounds like a Power Pack...easy to install...just a little fussy. ;)
