Gee, I think what the mechanic told you is utter crap. You should never need to drain the carbs. The motor should start in 10 sec.

I don't even drain the carbs over winter, and never have any issues with them.

Correct 2 stroke oil for water cooled engines and gasoline DO NOT SEPERATE apart !!!!!!!!!! MIne sits in a tank 7 months in upstate NY every year. NO separation or exhaust white cream cheese.
I do run 0 E High Test Marine Gasoline only. Fill up at a commercial marine refueling dock. ONLY
Engine starts in 1 second. Hot or cold.

Perhaps the vent on the VRO tank is plugged.-----That would feed extra oil into the system on a hot day.----Up to the owner to check the simple things.

I’ve verified all those items except for the magnets, and as for the primer solenoid I’ve only verified it’s clicking on key push. I’ve not taken it apart. I suppose I could start by removing the hoses and doing the test described in the manual (assuring no internal leaks or blockage). My guess is that those tiny fuel lines are extremely tight and difficult to remove, and I’ve been reluctant to cut the zip ties and get into that since I can hear the operation. But I can . . . .

Maybe the primer solenoid is stuck open? Is the red lever parallel or perpendicular. to the block.

Parallel. I turn it perpendicular when I manually inject fuel from the bulb. The dealer’s mechanic told me to that. That’s only 29 years ago. I always wondered where he ended up. Rusty? Red? Something like that. Sandy Creek Marina, Breckenridge, Texas. Yup, I’m getting old!!

Just got back from the lake. Engine started right up with one turn of the key. No blue smoke. I'm amazed. All I did was as instructed. I drained the carb bowls and flushed gas thru the carbs using the fuel squeeze bulb. Easiest start in years. Just wanted to follow up and let folks know. I have my rebuild kits and all the tools and parts for an in-depth rebuild, but I'm saving all that until needed. I'm amazed at how well things went, and how the engine started and ran. So, I won't be giving up, getting old, and selling my boat right soon:) Thanks for the help all--
