At the end of last boating season I purchased a boat with an '02 Yamaha 200HP HPDI 2-stroke motor. While it currently runs well, based on the rest of the package I'm going to operate under the assumption that no maintenance has ever been done on it. It currently has under 300 hours on it but given the year I'm assuming there's some things I should be checking/replacing. Plugs are a given and I'm thinking there's a belt in there somewhere. What else should I have done to it?

Change lower unit lubricant, install new water pump impeller, install a fuel/water separator, drain carb float chambers, always add a fuel stabilizer( like Stabil) to your gas tank, remove prop and check seals, splines, etc.....remove upper cowling and check/clean all electrical connections and moving parts.....

Robert this is a HPDI so it has VST and lots of filters, but no carb float chambers.

OP need to read up on these HPDI motors and all of the screens /filters

Rebuild the mechanical fuel pumps..these can and do fail and will wash cylinder/s and seize piston/s..

I have the same motor, yes do all the fuel filters, vst, cannister filter, plugs, lower oil,t-stats and yamaha has since upgraded the poppit valve style, change that also so it has no chance of sticking and setting off temp alarm at low speeds
