Last year I picked up a couple used 2004 200 HP HPDI that were well maintained with only 400 hrs on them. I upgraded my fuel water separators to the Rancor 2 micron and ran the season for 200 hours without a single issue. I keep reading about all these additional filters that makes me real nervous as I haven't changed anything else besides the plugs and a bad oil sender.

Can someone please help me clarify the countless threads of maintenance I should be doing to these motors so I can keep running like I did this past season?

if Yamaha says to replace filters, do it.

there is brush dust from the fuel pumps that can clog things.

also yamaha does not recommend that fine of a filter, might restrict fuel if it plugs and cause other problems with the fuel pumps if they do not have the fuel for cooling and lubrication
