200 hp v8 with power steering. what displacement?

looking at an 87 wellcraft 210, thinking this is the 305 engine and not 350. I'm curious exactly what designation this engine is because I've found alot of 5 litre engines with different specs.

yep. a 305 2v sounds about right. Mine is a 98' and makes 220bhp. Unless your goal is to go fast, it should move that size boat out pretty well. With a light load, my 24' cruiser (with all the cuddy options) will do 40+mph.

Throw a 4V on there and you can pick up another 20bhp and 1-2mph...

I see it's a 1987- 305, I had a 2- 1979 SeaRays, a 20' bowrider with a 305/4bbl rated at 228hp, that would do 50mph. The 2bbl version back then was 198hp or known as an 898. Then I had a 24' Cuddy cabin with a 350/260hp 4bbl that would do 40mph, this engine was never offered with a 2bbl that I know of? Those were the maximum small block power offerings of the day (unless maybe Mercruiser racing motors) apparently sometime after 1987 along came the Vortec design (basically better breathing heads), which automatically boosted the horsepower of the 305 and 350 cu in motors.

monterey you mean a 4 barrel carb for another 20 hp?

I'm really trying to find out if there is any aftermarket for this engine, not that it's a huge priority I'm not looking for a speedboat, but it would be nice to know if upgrades are possible such as ignition.

The Only Real Up-Grade is to a 350,......... With Vortec Heads would be Nice too.......

The 4bbl. Carb,+ manifold will put your 305 pretty much at it's Limits, without serious Internal work.....

Was actually hoping for an engine model number, (or better yet a Mercruiser serial number) NOT the type drive you have.
