My ouestion is my new yammie has 10 hours on it.I know it needs lower unit oil changed and some other small checks most Iam able to do myself. When I talk to the dealers they tell me they put it on a computer to check out other vitals. The problem is the price range I got was 150. to 340 dallors Iam really amazed at the price difference for a service check up.Does this sound right?

Hi Valleyjojoe,

I'm from New Zealand and the yearly services on my Evinrude 115 cost around NZ$400 which is about US$170. So what you've been quoted doesn't surprise me too much.

My advice is to not cut corners with such a new motor. If anything goes wrong with it, you want to be able to proove that you've done all servicing by the book by approved service personel. Otherwise you're giving the manufacturer an "easy out" to claim you've invalidated your warranty.

The Yamaha service experts will be better able to tell if everything is as it should be - especially with their computer connection. With such a new motor, a little extra spent now may save you a lot in future.

Just my 2 cents...

Re: 200 HPDI 10hour check up

Vallejojoe,

Just had 10 hour service performed on my new Evinrude 150. The dealer checked the spark plugs, changed lower unit oil, connected computer to check for codes and performed a general inspection. My dealer is quite reasonable and charged me $100.xx including tax. You might want to shop around. Good luck.
