Hello...I have a 1989 looper 200 25" that i want to convert to 20" what year & hp mid sections will work, also i have a 200 crossflow lower unit will the 20" drive shaft & shift shaft work with looper lower unit, I know the gear ratio is probable different but was hoping the shafts would work, local mech said raising the transom 5" would be easier ? I'd rather wrench then glass myself, Thanks for any info or advice

The easiest and most common thing is to add a manual jackplate.

Good luck!

Dhadley..I mounted it on a jackplate and its going to be to much stress on transom, to much leverage with the jackplate extended all the way up, looks like I'm gonna be building the transom up 5" unless i find a 200-225 looper 20"shaft engine with bad power head, it never ends

B O A T
Brake out another Thousand

Try eBay. At least you need the more common of the two. Pickins for going the other way would be pretty slim.

If the transom wont support a 5" jackplate, you might want to fix that anyway. However, a 20" mid section would solve a lot of issues. Try Jack at Superior Matine at 800-338-9281. Nice folks. Tell him I said hi.

Good luck!
