I have a 1991 200 merc that I just put on my boat. Runs great but loads up while at idle. The idle stabilizer module has been removed from the motor and I was wondering if it is worth replacing it. I heard it can cause more trouble than it's worth if it fails.

Re: 200 merc idle stabilizer

Loading up at idle would not typically be caused by a missing idle stabilizer. It is more likely caused by tune-up and maintentance issues, such as misadjusted or gummed up carbs, faulty ignition/spark plugs, faulty check valve on oil injection system, faulty bleed line check valves, etc. Yours is a common problem and is often discussed on this forum. A search on this forum may be faster for you to get some more advice on this than waiting for responses to this particular post. Just my thoughts...

All of the above. One thing you might try till you find tha culprit causing this is to make sure tha motor is trimed to level or a touch positive when your puttin' around................
