Ok I have done some testing and fixed any fuel lines that could have been leaking air. It appears my engine will run only a minute then stop. It then runs when marine starter spray is sprayed in. Does this rule out any of the electronics? I'm tearing down the carbs today. It may have been sitting while. It was exhibiting high speed jet clogging & I replaced the fuel diaphram and now it only runs for minute. 200 1994 carb v6 Black Max

'afternoon Shelbydriver,

sounds a bunch like a fuel delivery problem. please induldge me.
-tank is vented?
-new fuel?
-moter was winterized before it was pit up?

if yes, can you keep her running IF you pump the primer (bulb)? if yes, time to service/rebuild the fuel pump. if no, i'd remove, clean and service the carb.

Good Luck

looks like you've narrowed it down to fuel delivery, I'm betting on a varnished filled jet. Carb work sounds in order. Is that starting fluid suitable for 2 strokes??

hI, yES it is tc-3 3 two stroke starting fluid. Learned that here. I did rebuild the fuel pump. I do not see a vent on the tank. Early 90's boat. I will test the pump up ball as It seemed low before.

New fuel, water separator filter, inline filter. The pump up ball seems to get nice & hard.

I think the question is... Can you keep it running if you continue to pump the bulb.. If yes then your not getting fuel to the carb under normal running conditions, maybe bad fuel pump rebuild or fuel tank is not venting which is starving your carbs.
If bulb remains hard and engine still dies, i'd look at cleaning the carb.. jets likely clogged. If I had a nickel for every time a jet clogged on my old 20 horse merc I could buy a new one.
