200 XRi no spark left bank until throttle is 25%

Ive got a 95 200 XRi that has no spark on the left bank until the throttle is advanced approx 25% at which point it bursts to high rpm belching blue smoke from unburnt fuel. Im assuming its either a stator, trigger or one of the cdi boxes.. Ive got a DVA meter coming but Im unsure of the best way to definitively test/isolate the problem, thanks in advance for any help.........Oldcraneguy

Ohm out the stator. Those motors have high speed and low speed stator windings. It sounds like the low speed stator winding is bad for one switchbox.
