Gents,

My motor was running a little rough so i did a compression check on it. 110 to 125 across the board except one is at 80. I don't really have the money to replace and was wondering if there is any help on here. I'm a pretty good mechanic however i have never take apart an outboard. Car motors yes but not this. If i bought a manual do you think sleeving the cylinder or honing and new rings would be hard and do the trick? Like i said i would repower, but don't have the funds, but if it cost me say $1000 i would be good with that. it has the new chip and fuel rails already.

Thanks in advance

Greg

Re: 2000 200hp FICHT

Pull the head on that side and inspect cylinder, likely a locating pin in piston came loose. This common problem with the Ficht and closed deck block engines. If pin did migrate out replace all pistons as the others will soon follow. Also do the t-stat update and drill and install roll pin in housing area. Also have injector cleaned and tested on that cylinder(DFI in Alabama)
