My informed me that his engine started to make some noises ( light popping sound) on his last outing fishing. Ran it with the muffs on and it seems to be happening at idle and above 4000 rpm (rpm doesn’t seem consistent over 4000). At 3500 rpm and it runs perfect.
So far I have changed the fuel filter and bypassed a regulator, electric fuel pump and filter assembly that the last owner had installed trying to fix a starting problem. So currently just running from the tank through the bulb to the new filter and into the engine. The bulb pumps up and doesn’t seem to loose it’s pressure (pumping it while running does not rectify the problem). Of course it’s a long weekend and no shops are open till Tuesday. Any suggestions?
