Hello everyone!!
New here and need help!!! Got the boat out this year and there is a crazy loud knock in the engine compartment. The boat starts great, idles great and revs great. Put it in forward, only while in the water and around 2500 rpm theres a crazy loud knocking noise. It wont do it with the muffs. At first I really thought major mechanical, but it makes no sense on how good it runs. Has plenty of power. I found a video of the same engine on YouTube and its the identical noise. If i can figure out how to put the link i'll put it on here. The comments on that video stated it ended up being a head gasket. I just cant believe it though, runs too good. I've changed Spark plugs, Distributor cap, Rotor, plug wires, Fuel/ water separator, oil and filter, and even dumped 30 gallons of gas.

Boat is a 2000 Hurricane 2100 Sundeck
My understanding is that model did not come with a 5.7 and that this one was special order
Engine= 0L657312
Transom=0L853506
Drive=0L752803

Ayuh,..... #4, 'n #6 are dead,......

It looks like #5, #2, 'n #8 are super lean,.....

If yer Lucky, the head gasket is gone 'tween #4, 'n #6,.......
Lean detonation could be the cause,......

So I tore it down, head gasket was gone in between the two low cylinders. Was way easier that anticipated. It’s up and running sounds great. However it did before too 🤣🤣. Can’t wait to get it on the water, but headed outta town. Gotta wait till next week!! Thanks

head gasket set less than $100. Parts seemed pretty genuine to me
