2000 5.7l w Bravo 3 water exit?

On muffs, where should water be exiting when running on muffs? Over winter, a mouse made a nest by entering thru the props and upon starting a good portion of nest material exited out the back of the prop, however water is not exiting like it used to I believe. Water is supposed to come out around the gimbal area right?

Yes, on the muffs (i.e. at idle) most of the water will come out the side holes at the transom assembly. some might come out the props, but not as much as the transom side holes.

Just wanting anyone's opinion on where to proceed from here. My conclusion, since no water is exiting the outdrive, I'm going to take the water pump off and inspect/replace the impeller if damaged. If not, will try to backflush hose from pump to outdrive. Also, plan on removing outdrive to grease u-joints, check alignment, etc.. and look for more nest material. Any other ideas?

Also wanting to get it clear in my mind how the system works, a mouse enters thru the back of the props and proceeds to build a nest in their somewhere, how or can this nest material be drawn into the water intake somehow?

A mouse nest in the exhaust portion of your outdrive will not effect your water intake, 2 separate circuits entering the boat. Your water flow out the transom is the same as mine on muffs so no worries there. Grease is always good so definitely pull the drive and grease away!

So, the nest material could not enter the water intake system? Guess my impeller decided to give up the ghost upon initial start of the season - as stated, I'm going to check that this weekend
