2000 df70 not charging battery

I have a 2000 df 70 with only a few hundred hours on it. My battery accepts a charge, but when the motor is running, my volt-meter only reads approx. 12v. My other motor generates almost 14.5 when running.
Does anyone have any idea what my problem may be. If it were a car, I would have the alternator tested, but I do not know much about these motors.:facepalm:
Any help would be appreciated.

Just like your car you have a set of coils (lighting coil as Yamaha calls it but not sure about Suzki) under fly wheel and a regulator/rectifier on the outside.
And they can be tested with the proper test equipment.
If you plan on working on that motor yourself , then pick up a service manual as it will give the specs and test procedure along with the procedures
