2000 Evinrude 15HP 4 Stroke Carb Adjustment

Can anyone tell me the standard carb adjustment for this outboard. Any help will be welcome. Motor is used as a trolling motor on a 23' Sea OX. Outboard is a 2000 Evinrude 15HP 4 Stroke

what is the motor doing that you need to adjust carb.never had to adjust one.

The motor ran good since new until I had to have the belt changed. The mech that changed the belt ran the motor to test charging system and adjusted carb. He said because I use it as a trolling motor and run it between 2500-3000 Rpm the carb should be set a little different. The motor idles good but at the RPM for trolling it is on the rough side and will not hold a steady speed. I was wondering if there is a factory setting for carb, like 2 1/2 turns out????<br />Any help with the factory settings would be welcome.<br /><br />T J Gleeson

I don't have the spec you need,but couldn't you try adjusting at the rpm you need smoothed out ? <br />Other thought @2500 rpms,I think you are out of the idle passage (what the mixyure screw controls) and getting into the intermediate passages.Therefor the adjustment may not make a difference.<br /><br />DHP

first thing i would do is make sure the timing belt was installed properly.do you have a manual.

The idle adjustment was fixed and sealed at the factory.<br /><br />That doesn't mean it can't be unsealed and changed, but it will not make any difference at the 2500-3000 rpm range that you are talking about. Don't forget that idle rpm on that motor is around 850 rpm, not 650 like the 2-strokes.<br /><br />Be sure to check that the throttle roller has not broken or lost its outer covering. That would change the throttle setting at your trolling rpm and cause rough running. <br /><br />When were the valves adjusted last? Has compression or cylinder leakdown been tested? Are there deposits inside the carb which would affect the running of the motor?
