I have done quite a bit of research on brands of boats and how to have them checked out before buying, etc. I found what appears to be a very nice used 2000 Glastron 205 ($11,000) that has been taken care of and kept under cover. The owner has added dual batteries, a nicer sound system, GPS fish & depth finder and has all the toys anyone can want as far as fun stuff goes. Bascially it appears that boat is ready to go. A few questions before I take it out for a ride and have it checked out by a boat shop:
1) He claims the motor (5.0 with Volvo penta) can be winterized by just draining a plug at the bottom. This would be nice and I know some Nautic Star's have this capability.
2) The hull appears to be in great shape with the exception of a small place on the bottom of the 'V' hull that is scrapped down to the glass for about 12" from being beached. Is this a problem?
3) The motor looks very clean. What ypes of things should I have a shop make sure and check?
I've never owned an inboard/outboard before so would appreciate some advice. Thanks
